Finally.
As I sit here on the eve of the release of my new record
"Love Past...Love Present", I can't help but think... FINALLY! So many
of these songs have been burried in a hard drive, tucked away somewhere
in audio nowhere land instead of being enjoyed by the world. All of that
inspiration locked up really started to get to me, and near the end of
last year I decided that I was going to put together the project that
I've been patiently waiting to put out...a classic R&B album made up
of many unreleased songs from over the years...an album straight from
my heart.
The first song on the project is one called "Stop The
World". The opening line of the song says "Life, we both know that it's
not fair". When I was writing the song 7 years ago I guess I really felt
like it wasn't at the time haha! For real though, I was working doing
construction, desperately trying to make enough to make ends meet, even
though at the time I had already achieved a Top 40 radio single. So
again...I was definitely feeling like it wasn't fair! It's funny though,
because looking back it's the tough times like that where I really
learned who I was. Sometimes we all just want to stop the world...and
it's ok to feel that way, but the truth is we never will be able to stop
the WORLD...but we can slow down OURSELVES. The longer I slowed down
and stopped thinking about what I "deserved", the more I began to see
what was really important. Those hard times made me genuinely grateful,
and appreciative of every success along the way. Remember,fame is
fleeting, money comes and goes, but love is eternal...
